Disaster Recovery Planning Services.

SES Disaster Recovery planning service is an all encompassing review of your critical business systems. A principal consultant will normally be seconded on site to review the systems in use and what procedures (if any) are in place to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster. The initial stage of any disaster recovery planning exercise is to assess the potential risks and to strategically plan based on the likelihood of the business being interrupted by external factors, e.g. communications links are cut by a JCB or a building housing critical systems catches fire etc.

This service involves examination of the IT infrastructure and the Business Processes it supports in order to identify links and potential weaknesses. A balanced report is produced so that risks can be clearly identified and addressed.

The following steps will typically be followed when carrying out disaster recovery planning:

Business Impact Analysis- This involves defining the recovery requirements of the organisation from a business perspective and includes an assessment of process criticality, resource requirements and minimum timescales for the resumption of service of business support systems using suggested recovery strategies

Business Resumption Planning- Once recovery strategies are approved and implemented, procedures need to be documented for those business areas and support groups involved. All plans will include instructions for detection, escalation, notification, alert, declaration, relocation, procedures for recovery and other reference information

Operational Review- An operational review is performed to optimise your current processes and programs relating to back-up and restore of customer environments. The chief deliverable includes technical and operational recommendations to improve and optimise back-up and restore programs

Technology Recovery Planning- This service provides Resumption Planning services focused entirely on recovery of your business critical systems and network infrastructure

Deliverables

The key deliverable from the Disaster Recovery planning service is the Business Continuity Report - this can be a new document or an updated version of an old one, as appropriate. This document will then form the basis of the procedures that the organisation would need to follow if normal operations were threatened with a disaster. This service provides businesses with the comfort that should the worst happen, they will be ready and the impact to the business will be minimised.

SES will provide all parties contracted to the Escrow Agreement with a documented report outlining procedures taken within a 30-day period.
